Burt Band, Chorus With a variety of tools and courses such as drafting, farm mechanics,horticulture, auto mechanics, sewing, and cook¬ ing, the Vocational Department afforded the students an op¬ portunity to acquire those practical skills so much a part of everyday life. Through long hours of practice, whether in¬ strumental or vocal, the Music Department sought to develop the special talents of students. 19

Cafeteria and Maintenance CAFETERIA STAFF: Zenora Whitley, Corene Brewington, Gertrude Smith, Ethel Wiggins, Elizabeth Wiggins. Though having to operate two shifts in order to serve the student body, the Lunchroom Staff always managed to provide good lunches and to keep at¬ tractive floral arrangements and bulletin boards in the cafeteria. To keep our buildings and grounds clean and attrac¬ tive, the Maintenance Staff walked many miles, but always willingly went that second mile to unlock a door when a key had been lost or to move a desk to another room.
