Adams; Mrs. John 0 Adams; W. M. Satterwhite; Ferd Davis; and Fred A. Smith, County Superintendent, the name Vaideh Whitley High School was selected for the new con¬ solidated high school in East Wake County. Mr, C, Vaiden Whitley rendered outstanding and devoted service as amemberof the County Board of Edu¬ cation from January, 1941, until April, 1963, serving as its chairman from 1956 to 1963. 4

Our Alma Mater These interested leaders of the Beta Club met with their sponsor, Mrs. Mae Heath, January 12, 1966, to compose the Alma Mater. With much enthusiasm and pride, they pooled their ideas to produce what they hope embodies the spirit of Vaiden Whitley. Then Mr. Charles Burt set the lyrics to music.
