CLASS PROPHECY It rs the year 1970 and rn the town of Upton there are huge posters reading Old Home Week All talent for the program 15 strrctly home talent Every performer was at one trme a resldent of thrs town and was graduated from our high school As we look around we see Bob Huff our ktnd hearted frrend who became very wealthy through wrse rnvestments Rrchard Chapman destgns surts for all the best dressed men rn the country He 15 here hrmself and looks the glass of fasmon and mold of form Seated near hrm rs Drck Mellor a real estate dealer who owns so much property that he has to keep a card rndex of rt Standmg rn the door we fmd Donald Thorson edrtor of the largest darly paper rn the state and very actrve polrtrcally A round of applause greets the man Just takrng a seat by the wrndow II s Jack Prrdgeon Remember how he used to love astronomy and all that stuff 2 He s now a weatherman Yes he furnished splendrd weather for the Old Home Week A woman is sketchrng people as they came rn and dorng rt very well of course rt s Iris Drrskell They say she has become qurte famous as an rllustrator And now the entertamment IS to begrn There rs a hushed expectancy The lrghts rn the audrtorrum fade and the footlrghrs flash on Before the packed home appears a tall drgnrfred frgure who makes an eloquent address of welcome We remember our famous class debater Davrd R1tch1e It rs rndeed he He was a lawyer for a trme and now rs a Judge of the state supreme court He acts as master of ceremonres Frrst he calls attent1on to the beauttful flowers and other decoratrons sayrng that they were that after the entertainment refreshments wrll be served through the courtesy of Mlss V1ola McPherson who 15 proprretor of the delrghtful Old Home Town Now the entertarnment proper begms There rs gay musrc lrke crrcm mtsrc Then on the darkened stage rn the spotlrght appears a darnty frgure krssing her hand to the audrence as an attendant arranges a wire across the stage My goodness! It s Jane Ann Huskrnson who always sard she would be a dancer rn a crrcus She has certainly kept her word for she grves us a wonderful performance The Judge says she IS the most clever wrre dancer rn the world What a salary she must get' The Judge mtroduces a prosperous lookmg man who is a Broadway songwrrter and author of many popular song hrts It s Frank Mendenhall Now a brg surprise! Mrss Glorranna De Lorme famous movre actress rt s our old fnend Mary Materr Now a famous vrolrmst who plays the most beautrful muslc Yes ll s Waldron Townsend He has just returned from a concert tour rn Europe The spotlrght rs shrfted to the great audrtonum organ and the Judge mtroduces Kay Townsend now organrst rn a crry church and teacher rn and tnstrtute of organ musrc Next comes Kenny Hunter we all recognrze htm at once he s the author of those delrghtful short stones Then last of all lookmg stunnrng l.l'l an elaborate eventng gown comes Velma Mc Pherson She rs a wrrter of plays and has two successful ones running on Broadway now Then the entrre audrence nses, our orgarust and our vrolrmst play Auld Lang Syne the gift of Stanley Cordingly, now the leading Florist of the town, The judge announces
