L. H. S. In September 1945, all we members of the class hurried to school to begin our exciting journey through high school. Here we toiled over fractions and history dates. At the end of this year quite a few members discontinued the journey. After a brief summer vacation, we again resumed our activities, and advanced a step nearer our goal. We were now sophomores. We welcomed Mr. Eshleman and Mrs. Wise to our faculty. In the spring our biology class took an interesting field trip. The class also visited Valley Forge. At the end of this year, we were disappointed to see that we had lost two of our classmates, Farrell Lynch and Erla Mae Glatfelter. After what seemed like an extremely short vacation, we returned as juniors. We welcomed two new students, Kenneth lbach and Merle Smith, to our class. This year we were very happy to welcome Mrs. Lilley to our faculty. In the spring, we took a very enjoyable trip to Cettysburgg and later we entertained the senior class at a party. The biggest event of the year was the performance of our junior play "Grandad Steps Out" which was a three act comedy directed by Mrs. Lilley. Forty Niners! Yes! After much toiling, we finally reached our goal. ln September twenty of us assembled in Miss Kendig's room, for the last lap of our journey. In November, we presented our senior play "Here Come the Bridesw directed by Mrs. Lilley. ln March, we took a trip to Harrisburg. In the spring, we were delightfully enter- tained by the junior class. After this came many exciting moments, not only our final tests, but also our trip to Washington. After our return, we anxiously awaited our Baccalaureate Services on May 22 and also our Commencement Exercises held on May 31. At last we actually held our own diplomas in our hands. Our goal was finally achieved. E191 CLASS WILL We the Senior Class of 1949 of Upper Leacock High School, being of sound mind and a generous disposition, desire that our attainments and possessions, be bestowed upon our successors. We beg our faculty, who made our success possible, to think kindly of us. and forget, as far as possible, our faults and misdemeanors. Item: Kitty Steller's French book to Jim Greiner. Jack Parmer's ability to revise poetry to Fred Kurtz. Phyllis Buzzard's chemistry book to Marian Groff. Mary Jane Miller's short hair to Dolores Yunginger. M-'ry Lou Nonnenmocher's cheerleading outfit to Rolene Lincoln. Ruth Huber's good marks to anyone who will work for them. Mary Gerlach's seat on t-he bus to her sister Gloria. Join Huyett's love of dictation to Shirley Hess. Sonja Weidman's seat in the band to Doris Carson. Earl Wenger's slide rule to Robert Albright. Kenneth Ibach's basketball suit to Carl Smit-h-if it ever fits. Minnie Benner's seat in the front row of classes to Robert Albright. Paul Benner's score keeping job to Kenneth Horst. Jim Carson's influence with girls to Henry Kensinger. Dolores Pickel's giggles to Nancy Hoover. Marion Hart-enstine's quietness to the junior who has the most periods in the library. Mildred Wenger's artistic ability to Esta Lois Leaman. Joan Wagaman's long fingernails to Betty Parmer. Pat Cooper's ability to shoot long range basketball shots to Ruth Greiner. Violet Grofl"s spelling ability to any commercial student. In the presence of these witnesses we set our seal and signature to this our last will and testament on this thirty-first day of May, in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine.
