Board of The governing body of the University is The Rector and Visitors of Virginia a corporation of the Commonwealth consisting of seventeen Visitors, including the Superin- tendent of Public Instruction, who serves ex ofhcio. The Visitors, appointed by the Governor for a maximum of two Viyitom four-year terms, serve without pay, and are charged with the duty of maintaining the University, subject to the author- ity of the General Assembly of Virginia.
