SCHOOL OF LAW Since its establishment in 1862 the University of Virginia Law School has been regarded as outstanding among American Schools of Law. Substantiating this rating is the impressive list of alumni who have made and arc making notable contributions in the legal field. Much of their success can be attributed to the well-rounded education received during their course of study at the Law School. The curriculum includes both theoretical and practical courses, the latter coming in the last year. Also, equally important, there is a wide variety of extra-curricular activities in which the more ambitious and energetic students may engage. Such activities as the Law Review, the Law Weekly, the Student Legal Research Group, and the Moot Court competition give valuable experience in research. writing and speaking. Through the efforts of the Student Legal Forum and the John Bassett Moore Society, many prominent speakers are heard by the student body. All is not work at the Law School. The Law School dances are renowned for their gaity. Each Spring the Libel Show, put on by members of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, gives everyone an opportunity to laugh with impunity at the foibles of the faculty. Thus, with a mixture of regular courses and outside activities at bis disposal, the student receives a well-rounded education which quite adequately prepares him for his profession.
