KLTON K. WIEMAN DEAN OF MEN KDITH G. WILSON DEAN OF WOMEN Closest to the students in point of pei- sonal contact are the Dean ot Men and the Dean of Women. In their hands a major portion of tlie responsibility for student ' s guidance rests. 7o no other administrative officers is the student ' s welfare so important. Biggest job of all is that held by Dean Elton E. Wieman. In his first full year on this campus he has had to direct the activities of nearly three thousand men. In addition to his other functions he serves as Director of Physical Education and Athletics. Lindsay Chalmers, Manager of Dormi- tories, represents the Business Staff in the student ' s immediate interests. Major duties of his department are feeding and housing over three thousand students. The interests of women students are supervised and guided by their ver ca- pable Dean, Edith G. Wilson. She acts as general adviser to all University wom- en, and specifically to Women ' s Student Government and the Panhellenic Coim- cil. The student ' s health is Dr. Robert C. Cornell ' s chief worry. As Director of the University Health Service he has a finger on every student ' s pulse. Assistant to the Dean of Men, Rol ert Worrick also fills an important post in the system. In addition, he acts as head of the Social Affairs Committee. LINDSAY B. c;halme:;s managp:r of dor.viitories ROBKRI ;. C:ORNELI., M.D. DIRECnOR OF HEALTH SERVICE ROBERT C. IILNK L. DOTEN BUSINESS MANAGER FREDERICK S. YOUNGS TREASURER IRVING R. PIERCE ACCOUNTANT In the ever bustling Treasurer ' s Office we find the heart and core of the Univer- sity corporation. Here, the financial wiz- ards and their loyal crew devote their several and sundry efforts to managing the many and diverse transactions so nec- essary to successful and continued opera- tion. Seldom very spectacular, but always efficient, the men behind the scenes con- tribute as much as any professor to our education. Treasurer of the University is one of the most responsible positions in the ad- ministrative system. Many years ' loyal service has established the fitness of Fred- erick S. Youngs for this important post. He is ably assisted in his so many duties by Chief Accountant Irving Pierce and a ■ large staff. Henry L. Doten, the third member of the top management trio, guides the University in its innumerable business transactions. THE TREASURER S OFFICE . , 17

PHILIP J. UROCKVVAY DIRIXTOR OF PLACEMENT BUREAU JOHN C. SEALEY, JR. ALUMNI SECRETARY When a University student looks for a job, be it for summer or for l ife, he goes to see Phil Brockway. The Place- ment Bureau, of which he is chief, ren- ders an outstanding service in providing advice and aid to graduates and under- graduates alike. No matter how smoothly operated, it is an obvious fact that machinery needs must occasionally break down. When anything happens to plant or equipmeni the call is for none other than our ca- pable Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, Carroll Dempsey. To keep the old grads in touch with activities at the alma mater is the jol) which occupies John Sealey ' s time. This year, most of his time has been devoted to organizing support for the new Union Building. Many years of service have made our Librarian, Louis Ibbotson, a campus in- stitution. Caretaker of numberless vol- umes, he is ever willing to lend a hand to a student in distress. And a big word of commendation to the Library staff. And just to keep the world informed as to what goes on at the school, there is Howard Keyo, Publicity Director. If a news story concerns anyone even remotely connected with the University, a release from Keyo spreads the word. 1 1 t • g t M 4 u : ' ..jj CARROLL DEMP.SEY SUPT. OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS LOUIS T.
