In 1897 when the State College was reorgan- ized as the University of Maine, this Elec- tive Curriculum became a separate divi- sion known as the College ol Arts and Sciences. The College offers a Bachelor ol Arts Degree for those majoring in the subjects presented, and also oilers ser- vice courses in such departments as English, Psychology, and Public Speak- ing for students in other branches of the University.
