championship away from all the decent sized colleges and universities in this hemisphere—from Cornell, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania, and a dozen others. Wc may well be proclaimed champions of the world in cross-country, for no college, no university, can dispute our title. YYe went without our vacation Thanksgiving and ate our turkey without the usual and familiar Thanksgiving surroundings. The Junior Assembly helped pass away a few hours before Christmas and then we journeyed home to adorn our native heaths for fifteen days or so. Did you ever think we would get that ice rink? Out back of W inslow Hall a place has been located where the water refuses to drain oil. but stands docile until frozen. Result? Our hockey rink. It is here at last! Mid-year exams, final exams, we arc sorry to say, for some of our number, came during the last few days of January, and thus closed the year historically as far as the Prism is concerned. The year has been a wonderful year, wonderful in many ways. W e have won victories, we have progressed. W'e have met defeats and met them man- fully. We have kept burnished ever brightly and we have attempted to live up to the line that describes the meaning, the theme of our true Maine spirit, “Fair play, and may the best man win! May this Maine spirit guide us on our path thru life. Dear, loved Maine, this year shall be a pleasant year and a profitable year on the tablets of our memories !

the evening, and on May 8th in the afternoon a baseball game and a dual track meet with Bates, and in the evening a Minstrel Show. Bates won in baseball, 6 to 4, but we walked away with the Track Meet, 8o to 44. May 15th, we took a special train to aterville and proved to the down- State colleges that beyond a doubt we were entitled to retain the title of “Maine State Track Champions” and a week later we gave Dartmouth the scare of its life when we rolled up 31 points to the Green's 3b 1-3 points, and so we lost out by only 5 1-3 points. While our team was at Cambridge, Hebron was holding a practice track meet with the other Maine prep schools, but Bangor and Portland finishing second, and third respectively, gave Hebron a little work in walking away with the honors of the day. Birds of a feather ought to Hock together, thought our athletic authorities, so they would not rest easy until the Universiy of Maine became a member of the American Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association. Our team went to Philadelphia May 29th. We won ninth place among the colleges and universities of the I'nitcd States. Perry Bailey won first place in hammer throw, and Pat French and “Bill Allen showed enough form to win additional places for Maine. Then came our final examinations and commencement week. Sunday, June 6th, the Baccalaureate Sermon, the Band Concert in front of the library, and the vesper service in the evening in the Chapel Hall bring back fond memories to the mem- bers of the Class of 1915. The Governor and his staff reviewed our Cadets on Monday morning, and in the afternoon we proved to Colby that we had the better team. Class Day came Tuesday; the V. YY. C. A. presented a Shakesperean play in the morning and the Glee Club sang, in the afternoon the Seniors were marshaled into the Gymnasium, the gifts were presented and the orations deliv- ered, and then every one went to Alumni Field to see Maine and Bates light it out in baseball. Wednesday the Class of 1915 received their diplomas in the pleasant little valley that lies between Fernald and Coburn Halls. The speaker of the day, Congressman McCall, now Governor McCall of Massachusetts; Presi- dent Alcy, surrounded by the Deans in their appropriate robes; the graduates in caps and gowns and the throng of eager friends and relatives, made an impressive scene. The summer passed; summer school with its work and its pleasures, not to be forgotten. Autumn came; college opened. The whole campus suddenly became alive with happy students. The whole University awakened as from a sleep. The football team under Coach Tommy Hughet developed into a State championship winner and we capped the climax with a memorable trip to Portland. In cross-country we started in easy, at first we won a dual race with Bates; then we took the State championship from Bowdoin, Bates, and Colby; then we took the New Pngland championship from Brown, Dartmouth, Massachusetts I ech, and the rest of the New England members; then we took the Interollegiate 10
