The Bearcat-' Lineup for Hanover
Qliintinnati. 351 ifaannber, 6
LAYING like a different team, the Bearcats easily took the light Hanover
team into camp in the second night football game of the season. The Han'
over team scored their only marker in the first few minutes of play as a
result of a fumble by Captain Filger on his own fivefyard line. Cincinnati, although
they scored two touchdowns, played sloppy football during the first half.
In the second half Cincinnati started immediately to make things hot, and played
a bangfup game during the remainder of the contest, Drives by Fisher and Bryant
repeatedly carried the ball down the lield. Hanover was entirely unable to stem the
Bearcat offensive, and could do nothing with the ball when they got it. The Bearcats
showed an improved brand of punting, and appeared much better drilled than in the
Fireworks and a demonstration by the freshman class enlivened the pastime.

HE Bearcat team which started the opening game showed little promise of
becoming the scrapping aggregation which Coach Babcock later developed.
F The lads from old Kaintuclt displayed a different brand of football than they
put up last year, and proved too much for the local lads, who were handicapped by
insufficient practice. VV'e5leyan scored their two touchdowns early in the game and
outplayed Cincinnati for three quarters. In the last frame Captain Filger who had
been prevented from starting by an injured hand, entered the game and tore off fifteen
yards for CIHCYNS third first down. A few forward passes by Post put the ball close
to the Kentucky goal line, but the game ended before it could be carried over. The
Bearcat punting was very weak.

the first Buckeye game of the season, the Bearcats went all the way to
Springfield for a lacing they might have had in their own back yard any
day. The powerful Lutheran team, the greatest Hghting machine which has
represented Wittenberg in many moons, completely crushed what feeble hopes had
arisen in the most optimistic of Cincinnati hearts.
On one occasion two forward passes put the ball on Wittenberg's sevenfyard line,
but even at that point Cincinnati was unable to penetrate the great defense of the
Lutherans. The heavy Wittenberg backneld combination, Price, Ulrich, Bradley and
Maus, tore through the Bearcat line as if it had been paper.
The brilliant defensive playing of Bus Schott of Cincinnati was the lone bright
beam that permeated a day of gloom.
