College of Business has as its essential purpose the education of young men and women to reach their maximum potential as responsible leaders in private businesses, government service, and nonbusiness organizations. The College offers curricula for maiors leading tothe Bachelor of Science in Education, Bach- elor of Science, and Bachelor of Arts Degrees. College of Education has as its maior function the professional preparation of elementary and sec- ondary teachers, teachers of exceptional children, counselors, speech pathologists, reading specialists, and educational examiners. The College provides professional consultation services to both SCA stu- dents and staff, elementary and secondary schools, and community agencies. The College of Fine and Applied Arts and Sci- ences offers professional education in a number of fields in which the performance of developed skills is basic to the professional competence. The College also makes contributions to the general education program of the institution in such areas as fine arts, health, and physical education. College of Science and Humanities, through the many general courses which it offers, seeks to for- ward education rightly called liberal. Numerous departments provide studies which are pre-profes- sional and professional in character.

SCA announces maior reorganization State College of Arkansas announced plans for a maior reorganization of administration and instruc- tion in April, 1969. Administrative affairs were divided into four areas and the school's 21 departments were grouped into four colleges. The plan is designed for effective administra- tion on both a long-range and a short-range basis, SCA President Dr. Silas D. Snow said. lt went into effectJuly l. Heads of the four administrative areas are Dr. A. E. Burdick, vice president for academic and in- structional affairs and dean of the faculty, Harold D. Eidson, vice president for business and financial affairs, Frank Koon, coordinator for student affairs, and Bill R. Pate, coordinator for public affairs and assistant to the president. Deans of the colleges are Dr. Conrad Carroll, dean of the College of Business, Dr. Robert Morrow, dean of the College of Education, Dr. Jefferson Farris, dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts and Sci- ences, and Dr. Orville Rook, dean of the College of Science and Humanities. ' Dr. H. B. Hardy, Jr. became dean of Under- graduate Studies, and Dr. Ben A. Lewis remained dean of the graduate school. The plan was based on recommendations from a report by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Consulting Service which sent two consultants to the College the previous fall to study its programs and organizations. The departments are grouped as follows: College of Business - business and economics. College of Education-counselor education, ed- ucation, early childhood education, psychol09Y, and special education. College of Fine and Applied Arts and Sciences - art, health and physical education, home economics, industrial education, library science, military scl- ence, music, and nursing. College of Science and Humanities - biology, chemistry, English, speech and iournalism, foreign languages, geography, history, political science, and sociol0QYi mathematics: philosophy, and physics.
