Mrs. Maxine Crafton Administrative Secretary Mrs. Ruby Chick Administrative Secretary AJ - Academic and Instructional Affairs New schedule approved for 1970-71 SCA is changing the opening and closing dates for its fall and spring semesters starting with 1970 - 71 school year. The new plan, approved by the Board of Trustees in March, is designed to give students longer vacation periods between terms and is ex- pected to increase the efficiency of teachers and staff in making the transition from one semester to another. Under the plan, fall semester classes will start August 31 and end December 22, and spring semester classes will begin January 13 and end May 14. SCA's two five week summer terms will not be affected. The plan means that students no longer will have to return to the college after the long Christmas hol- idays to take fall term final examinations. Instead, they will take the tests iust before Christmas and then begin a three-week between-semester vacation. Easter recess will also be increased to nine days. Mr. Charles Downs, registrar, and his staff facil- itate registration, advise students throughout their college career, and work with the faculty and staff in assisting students to achieve their desired goals as they progress toward graduation. SCA student enrollment reached a record 4,620 in September, exceeding the previous high of 4,375 in the fall of 1968. In an effort to make registration easier and faster, business office services were moved to the Student Center Ballroom so that all the enroll- ment procedure could be taken care of in one area. Students enrolled in classes, turned in cards, and paid fees in the Ballroom. This cut down on the waiting and long lines. Austin Glenn, EdD S. D. White, MEd Charles F. Downs, MS Assistant to the Vice President Diploma of Advanced Studies Registrar for Academic, Instructional Affairs Director of Field Services
