These were: Dr. B. A. Lewis, Dean of Grad- uate School, Dr. H. B. Hardy, Jr., Dean of Under- graduate Studies, Dr. J. Conrad Carroll, Dean of College of Business Administration, Dr. Robert O. Morrow, Dean of College of Education, Dr. Jefferson D. Farris, Dean of College of Fine and Applied Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Orville Rook, Dean of College of Science and Humanities. School of Graduate Studies includes a group of advanced students and a faculty whose primary ob- iective is the advancement of scholarship. The work of Dr. Lewis has been directed toward bringing about this obiective. Formal courses of instruction, semi- nars, and directed as well as independent research are so arranged that the graduate student has ample opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and to make independent contributions. Dr. H. B. Hardy has been involved in working with various departments in an effort to better co- ordinate the work of all departments on the campus. Maior emphasis has been placed on updating the gen- eral education program and communicating changes in policy to the members of the affected departments. Dr. J. Conrad Carroll's duties are concerned with the functioning of the College in carrying out its essential purpose which is to educate young men and women to reach their maximum potential as respon- sible leaders in private businesses, government ser- vice, and nonbusiness organizations. Dr. and Mrs. B. A. Lewis greet Shaul Ben-Haim, counselor for press and information at the Israel embassy in Washington, who delivered a short address at the General Assembly of the Model United Nations held on the SCA campus. Pate, Coordinator for Public Affairs and Assistant to the President, serves as an administra- tive assistant of the college on a number of commit- tees to furnish information and reports to the Com- mission on Coordination of Higher Education. In addition, he has served as official representative to welcome a variety of conferences and workshops held on campus. Frank Koon was named to the newly established position of Coordinator for Student Affairs. Working with the directors of various services, he coordinates and supervises those services of the College most immediately concerned with student life. These in- clude: public relations, student housing, food ser- vices, student activities and organizations, dean of men, dean of women, financial aid, student center ac- tivities, placement, student health services, campus traffic and security, and athletics. Under the leadership of Dr. Robert O. Morrow, the College of Education has focused upon change. In each of the four departments, new programs are being developed which are aimed at meeting needs of individuals within a complex society. The College is actively working with other colleges and universities in consortium arrangements, whereby training is divided among the colleges. The College also takes a leadership role in innovative programs and works actively with State and Federal divisions in imple- menting educational change. ' The establishment of a School of Health Sciences has been the primary development within the College J. Conrad Carroll, Ph.D. Dean, College of Business Administration Robert O. Morrow, Ph.D. Dean, College of Education of Fine and Applied Arts and Sciences of which Dr. Jefferson D. Farris is Dean. Other activities of the College include studies of grading practices through- out the College, a study of staff assignments relative to departmental offerings, development of a strength- ened student advisement plan in each department, and a general effort to upgrade course content and teach- ing methods. Dr. Orville Rook guides the College of Science and Humanities in activities designed to forward the type of education rightly called liberal . A review or study of the College, past, present, and future and its relation to the other Colleges is under way. Jefferson D. Farris, Ed.D.
