SCA is rapidly expanding its physical campus with completion of new buildings and landscaping. Administrators SCA's rapid expansion continues Charles R. Teeter, as Director of Develop- ment, is assistant to the President in charge of the college's over-all program of development and progress. His assignment includes supervisory roles in public relations, student aid, placement, admissions, health services, alumni matters and public information. Mr. Teeter, a native of Pottsville, has a BSE degree from SCA and an MA from the University of Arkansas. Before joining the SCA Administration in 1961, he had served as Personnel Dean at Arkan- sas A8rM and as superintendent of schools at Gould and Star City. President Silas D. Snow is serving his 16th year in ofice. Snow sees en Dr. First alumnus to head the college, Dr. Silas D. Snow took office July 1, 1953. Under his leadership, student registration rose from 923 to an all-time high of 4,425 in September 1968, making the college the third largest institution of higher learning in Arkansas. The 1968 total included a record number of high school honor graduates enrolled as freshmen. A veteran educator, Dr. Snow was superintend- ent of the Crossett public schools prior to accepting the presidency of SCA. He is a member of the Methodist Church and its official board. Dr. Snow has served as president of the Conway and Crossett Rotary Clubs and as governor of Rotary International District 617. He is a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was state chairman for the 1968 membership drive of the Arkansas Association for the Crippled, the state's Easter Seal agency. Dr. Snow is chairman of he rollment increase Arkansas Educational Television Commission, and a former president of the Arkansas Educational Television Commission, and a former president of the Arkansas Education Association. He is a mem- ber of a review committee of the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges, the National Commission on Accreditation, the Southern Regional Education Board and the National Commit- tee for Education on Family Finance Board. He is listed in Who's Who in America. He was Arkansas's representative on the Euro- pean Flying Classroom inspection tour in 1950. In 1965, he spent 30 days in Israel as one of seven educators chosen to study higher education in that country. The trip was sponsored by the U. S. State Department and the American Association of Col- leges for Teacher Education.

A. E. Burdick, PhD Dean Deans B. A. Lewis, PhD Dean of Graduate Studies Deans advise, guide SCA students Dr. A. E. Burdick, dean of the college, was instrumental in establishing a counseling center within the Psychology department this year and he assisted the President and department chairmen in increasing the number of faculty members to 180. Dean Burdick was a recipient of the President's awards last spring for faculty members making out- standing contributions to the college. Knowing that the students on campus represent the major college responsibility and challenge, Dr. Burdick tries to help students understand what is expected of them by the college. As a staff officer Dr. Burdick is an adviser to the President in matters concerning the academic program, and is responsible for the preparation of the necessary institutional studies. As a line officer, the Dean has delegated responsibilities involving decisions based upon institutional policy. Faculty recruitment, orientation, encourage- ment, evaluation, conditions of service, and extra- class service are all matters of importance to the Dean. Making a continuing effort to appraise the feasibility of the college purposes and the need for change, Dr. Burdick is sensitive to the relevance of the institution's educational plans to students' needs. Graduate division of State College of Arkansas will award approximately 200 MSE degrees during the academic year of 1968-69. The College awarded 165 MSE degrees the past academic year. The graduate enrollment for the 1968-69 aca- demic year is expected to exceed 800 mark. Graduate office advises graduate students re- garding graduate policies. The office admits stu- dents to graduate study, approves programs of study leading to the master's degree, approves thesis proposals and approves theses. Dr. B. A. Lewis, dean of the Graduate School, approves appointments of graduate assistants. This year there were twenty-five of these students as- signed to the departments offering graduate work. SCA offers fifth-year programs leading to the Master of Science in Education degree in elementary school teaching, guidance counseling, secondary education, and special education. Fields of secondary education curricula are business education, biology, chemistry, English, home economics, industrial education, mathematics physical education, physics, social studies, and foreign languages.
