Waiting for the arm to stop bleeding was a tiresome task. The pain of being stuck by the needle was overcome by the feeling of happiness gained by giving blood. Happiness Is Giving Blood Giving blood required a lot of determination and patience. fie happiness was compounded when the sharing was done together. 31

A firm qrip and encouraging squeeze now and then can do wonders for the morale. The anticipation was half of the battle. Many fortunate people will receive new life from the 732 pints of blood collected during the Alpha Phi Omega-American Red Cross Blood Drive held October 21-24. Through the service of numerous campus organizations and with the help of the 831 people who gave of their time for the chance to give the gift of life ... blood ... the quota of 568 was met and surpassed. For the persons who were rejected for various reasons and for the 10,000 students who couldn't make it for many more reasons, the Blood Drive was also on campus April 21-24. 1969. One of the many preliminary steps was a blood sample. The prick of a needle and a grimace of pain were all part of the routine. The best port of the ordeal, besides the feeling of satisfaction, was the food served afterward and an escapo from Ma Crown. 30
