The future of o nation is the future of its citizens and institutions. The educational institutions the world over have changed and must change more. The beginnings of world security, the return of our armed forces, and new demands from industry will increase the number of men and women desiring the advantages of college. Our old institutions must be expanded, with new ideas and new equipment to provide for these increased numbers. We have the dreams. The builders have the plans. The realization of these in our new school lies in the future. We will study in a modern, well-equipped library. We will exhibit our senior art work in a gallery that will do justice to it. Wo will see our Stock Company productions on a stage with facilities for real work. We will spend our leisure hours in rooms furnished to accommodate all of us comfortably. We will keep in touch with our fellow students through a public address system fitted into every classroom in the school. We will fulfill the greater demands made upon us. Our school must fit in with the future of the world; for the rea' future of the world depends on our schools. faqe 26 Page 2?Paqc 2VThe divisions . . . our specialized deportments of learning . . . their pet terms and expressions for the thing we all moon—integration . . . free expression . . . stimulation . . . interest . . . experience . . . fulfillment . . . adjustment . . environment . . . participation . . . all divisions striving toward the ultimate goal—the growth of )2 the child, the vitality of the teacher.DIVISIONS ART DIVISION I ROW I—(lo hxn. i_ -0 R. —tfHHniim iniiti) S iothl' fa Cd l t • M. e V.nji 4 '»•'« A Jrr, W»r.» lu-twiij, N«"'v ROW Fvr . • 'n C»'- ■ " J » JM" A't«J •• J, - Cj = ROW t—Mar. S?With the departure of the air cadets and the consequent reopening of Baker field house to college activities, came a rebirth of Milwaukee State's sports program. Although a complete program of varsity sports was not inaugurated because of the shortage of available manpower, three major sports—cross country, basketball, and track were carried on. Football and swimming, it is hoped, will come into their own again in the fall. Working with constantly shifting young material, the coaches were faced with the problems of having to lose man after man to the armed forces, and of having to develop and train new material, much of it with little or no high school varsity athletic experience. ATHLETICS intramural board At LA VESSfR RALPH HOBENA WILLIAM NOEHL SYLVESTER PfRSCZYK OWEN BEEM JAMES KUKLA RICHARD G8OS$E The intramural board is composed of a group of students designated to have complete charge of the intramural program. Two new members are chosen by the board each year to take the place of the graduating members. Acting as coordinators for the college's non-varsity sports program, the board chooses the various activities, sets dates for them, outlines rules, advertises games and meets, and conducts and officiates at the contests. Four awards are presented each year for participation in intramurals. After four years of service on the intramural board graduating members are awarded keys. s$IS «• M k CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULE M.S.T.C. INVITATIONAL «•• L«te 3J Woeoton 55 M.S.T.C. 64 CMca o U.
