Born at Toledo, Ohio. Studied at University of Texas, taking the degree of LL. B. and M. L. in I897 and 1898 respectively. Took the degree of D. C. L. at Yale in 1899, the degree of U. D. at Heidelberg in 1905, and the degree of-LL. D. at the University of Melbourne in 1907. Instructor and afterwards adjunct Professor of Political Science and Law, University of Texas, I900-1905. Assistant Professor of Law, Leland Stanford University, 1906-7. Professor of Law at same in 1908. University of Chicago, summer session, 1908. Fraternities: Chi Phi, Phi Delta Phi. Author of Trans-Isthruian Canal, Commercial Law of Australia, and other works on commercial law. LEWIS RALPH JONES, PH. B., PH. D. . Professor of Plant Pathology. Born at Brandon, Wis., Dec. Sth, 1864. Graduated from Ripon College in 1886. Took the degree of Ph. B. and Ph. D. at the University of Michigan in 1889 and 1904 respectively. Professor of Botany at the University of Vermont in 1900. Member of N. E. Botanical Club. Author of various botanical reports and scientific papers. 5 EUGENE LUENING. Director of the Department of Music. Born in Milwaukee, 1852. Attended High School until sixteenth year. Studied in Europe, attending conservatories of music in Leipzig and Berlin, and receiving diplomas from them. Returned to Milwaukee and was Director of Milwaukee Musical Societies for twenty years. Spent the next six years in Europe, studying in Paris, Italy and Vienna. Composed an overture which has been played by the Thomas Orchestra, also a piece called In Memoriam, dedicated to President Garfield. Has composed many other songs and pieces for the orchestras, solos, and the organ. ALICE L. MARLATT, M. A. S. Professor of Home Economics. Born at Manhattan, Kansas. Graduated from Kansas State College, taking the degree of M. A. S. Instructor at Kansas State College in 1900. Professor at Utah College. Assistant Principal of Technical Hich School of Providence, Rhode Island, 1908. Member of American Chemical Society and of Home Economics Society. BENJAMIN MCKIE. RASTALL, PH. D., PH. B., M. A. Associate Professor of Business Administration. . Born at Schuilerville, N. Y., Jan. 19th, 1880. Graduated from High School there, then. took undergraduate work at Colorado College. Received degree of Ph. B. and M. A. in 1901 and 1903 respectively. Received degree of Ph. D. at University of Wisconsin in 1905. Instructor of Mathematics at Wisconsin. Professor of Economics at University of Minnesota, 1908 and 1909. Phi Beta Kappa, Colorado College. Author of the Labor History of the Cripple Creek District. RAY HUGHES WHITBECK, A. B. Y Assistant Professor of Ceography and Physiography. Born at Rochester, New Yo-rk. Graduated from Comell University in 1901, taking the degree of A. B. Took honors in Physiographlc Geology. Member of Sigma Xi Fraternity. Supervisor in New Jersey State Normal School, Trenton, N. Lecturer in Geography at Adelphi College, Brooklyn, New York, prior to coming to University of Wiscomin. Member of Cornell Summer School Faculty, 1902-1907.
