Graduated in IS97 from the Western University of Pennsylvania receiving the degree of E. E. IS97-8 practical experi- ence in electrical engineering. In 1899 engaged in research worlc for the Xvestinghouse Company. IBQ9-l904 interested in the development of the Nernst lamp, and Chief Electrician for the Nernst Lamp Company. 1904 engaged in. consulting and contracting work in Pittsburg. 1905 manager and head electrician for the National Electric Signalling Company. In I906 became connected with the Telluride Institute, acting as instructor of mathematics. Inventor of the first multi-path lightning arresters, also awarded silver medal by the Jury of Awards of the St. Louis Exposition, for work on the Nernst lamp. .ALEXANDER GRAHAM CHRISTIE. Assistant Professor of Steam Engineering. Born at Manchester, Ontario, Nov. l9t.h, ISSO. Graduated from Port Perry High School, Ontario, and from the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Course of the University of Toronto. Spent three years with the Westinghouse Machine Co. at East Pittsburg, Penn. Had charge Steam Turbine exhibits at the St. Louis Exhibition. Accepted position as Instructor of Mechanical Engineering, Cornell University. In 1905 erecting engineer for Allis-Chalmers Co. Appointed Assistant District Engineer for Eastern Division, Assistant Superintenden.t of Construction, and later Chief Engineer of Company. Instructor at Park College, Mo., during the years i903-9. JAMES G. HALPIN, B. S. A. Assistant Professor of Poultry Husbandry. Born at Ocessa. New York. Graduated from Cornell University in l905. taking the degree of B. S. A. Instructor in charge Poultry Husbandry at Rhode Island State College, l9U5 and l906. Instructor in Poultry Husbandry at Michigan Agricultural College in 1907. Assistant Professor of Poultry at M. A. C. in l908. Author of various bulletins and articles on poultry. FRANCIS THOMPSON HAVARD, E. M. Assistant Professor of Mining and Metallurgy. Born at Queensland, Australia, l878. Educated in Australia and Germany. Received the degree of E. M. in l90l. During l902 and 1903 chemist and night superintendent of the Great Falls Smeltery of the Boston and Montana Copper Mining Co. 1903-1906, Manager of Awhalt Lead and Silver Works at Silberhuette, Germany. 1906-1908, Smelter Manager of Coupipa Mining Co. of Chili. Returned to U. S. in t908 and acted in capacity of Metallurgy Expert for U. S. Smelting, Mining and Refining Co. Member of American Institute of Mining Engineering and Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. ' ' i GEORGE ALBERT I-IOOL, S. B. Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering, University Extension Division. Born at Lawrence, Mass., in ISBI. Graduated from Lawrence High School. Received the degreee of S. B. at Massa- chusetts Institute of Technology in 1905. 1905-l906, worked for the New York Central R. R. l906-l907, connected with the New York State Engineering Department. For next two years in charge of the Department of Civil Engineering. with title of Professor, at the University of Oklahoma. ' 21
