Since most teaching is done out-of-doors, much depends upon the weather you find when you rise at 7:30 a. m. Activities are planned according to the weather and include map and compass reading, a trip to the island farm, rock and mineral studies, weather and conservation studies. A tour of the local water filtration plant also provides a valuable learning experience for the students. From 7:30 a.m. until lights out at 8:30 p.m. the students seldom find themselves inactive. There are two morning activity classes leach one hour in lengthy, lunch, two afternoon periods, study or recapitulation, dinner, an evening get-together, snack, showers and then time for bed. A warm inviting common room is the setting for the evening programme. Sing-songs, films or games are on schedule for Monday through Wednesday's evening programme. Thursday evening is a special night with each group putting on skits to entertain the others. The evening ends with a ghost story of the island's haunted lighthouse , by one of the staff members. Friday at noon the week comes to an end as the students leave for home. They return with memories and knowledge that will not be soon forgotten. Student teachers also leave with many memories. Experiences of watching a bird being caught and banded, hiking through the woods, answering the pupils' questions about the farm animals and helping the children forecast the weather will be carried on to the science classrooms for years to come.
