' ' winter iv i love her. she makes me complete, alive — and sensitive to what ' s outside myself, it ' s an unbelievable paradox, when we ' re talking — or even just sitting together — i seem to appre- ciate and understand myself, yet i feel less focused on myself than ever before, she seems to sense so fully what i am feeling — and makes me want to discover, i feel as though we are exploring the universe together — and everything is so vivid, so real, and i want to go on searching forever. 12

i ' m happy with myself, i don ' t mean self satisfied or resigned to the inevitable, but i guess i mean wilhng to accept ' me. ' i never thought i ' d feel that, i can ' t stand people who are egotistical, maybe it seems i ' m being that way, but i ' m not. for years i wanted to remake myself — become better, stamp out the undesirable, impress everyone, including myself, now i guess i ' m more willing to go along with myself and work from there. spring III J
