The Huskies drew first blood when they forced the Indians into their own end zone for a safety and two points. Edging ahead in the second quarter, the Redmen booted a field goal and led until the final period. Don Jones, dependable fullback, placed Washington in the lead with a goal line plunge after a continuous down-field march. But the Cards came back strong. Receiving a poor pass from center, Dean McAdams' boot went out of bounds on the 12. Taking possession of the ball from this point, the Cards failed in four attempts to make a first down on the Husky two-yard line. After two unsuccessful line thrusts, Husky mentor Jimmy Phelan sent in Elmer Berg, who stepped back into the end zone for an intentional safety on the next play.
