During the year 1937-1938 a group of about one-hundred-
fifty first year students embarked on a real venture in
Freshman education. Officially called the "Intensive Study"
students, the campus called them "guinea pigs." The new
of the plan was the fact that each quarter they pursued one
course intensively with correlated work in English
composition and literature-foreign language the first
quarter, social science the second, science or mathematics
the third. Their pictures may in a Way point to the merit of
the project. Their future progress is, of course, the acid
test.
