ika (?oacliLna raculttf TO FOUR MEN — James Phelan, Alvin Ulbrickson, Clarence Edmundson, and Doi ' sett Graves — must go the bulk of the credit for the brilliant year of athletic achievement enjoyed by the Uni- versity of Washington. Experts in their chosen sports, they fielded teams not great only in technical brilliance, but outstanding as the finest in the ideals of collegiate sportsmanship. Washington is fortunate in claiming as her own these four, who brought home to this campus more honors than any college in the United States could claim in the realm of sports during 1936-37. A world rowing championship, three notional crew titles, a Pacific Coast Conference football crown, the Rose Bowl bid, and a mythical national basketball title were the highlights of their efforts. From the men whom they direct, they have won admiration and respect and from every Washington fan the whole-hearted support that comes of confidence In their ability. I THEY WORK hand-in-hand with Jim Phelan, do Pest Welch and Cotton Wilcox, assistant football coaches, and there aren ' t two better versed grid aides on the coast. Cotton pro- duces the backs and Pest keeps the reserves In shape for prac- tice combat. Clark HE RUBBED AWAY their ills did Click Clark, the pal of every Husky athlete. One of the finest trainers in the business. Click had a big year In handling champions in almost every sport. His job is to keep the boys in shape and that ' s just what he does with finesse.
