Anthony W. CWayne7 Stoeckel was born in Newport, Kentucky on 25 July, 1935, graduating from St. Thomas High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky in 1953. After Graduation he attended Villa Madonna Col- lege in Covington, Kentucky. Capt. Stoeckel entered the Navy in the NAVCAD pro- gram in 1956, earning his wings and commission as En- sign in August 1957. He saw duty in S-2 CTrackerJ squadrons flying Anti-Submarine Warfare missions in Norfolk and Key West, served as Hangar Deck and Flight Deck Officer on USS INTREPID CCVS-115, and returned to flying during combat operations in Vietnam on board USS KEARSARGE CCVS-335 1968-70 with VS-29. He transitioned to the Navy's newest aircraft CS-3A Vikingj in 1973 and commanded the first Viking deployment in 1975-76 aboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY CCV-675. After his aviation command, Capt. Stoeckel was selected for "deep draft command" and commanded USS SYLVANIA CAFS-25 in 1980-81. He has had staff duty in San Diego, at Headquarters Naval Air force Pacific Fleet, and at the Pentagon working in OP-O5 COffice of the Deputy for Air Warfarej. Capt. Stoeckel has a BA degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and an MPA from the University of Washington. Additionally, Capt. Stoeckel is a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, and the Navy's Aviation Safety School in Monterey. He is married to the former Bonnie Joyce Beard of Nor- folk, Virginia. They have five children, Mark, Melanie, and Matthew who reside in northern Virginia, and Eric and Warren who reside with their parents in Bothell. This book is the first chapter in your career. Jonathan Bridge is member of the Navy Reserve Judge Advocate General Corps. He graduated in 1972 from the NROTC Unit at the University of Washington. He spends many hours providing much needed legal service to members of the Unit as well as teaching Military Law Classes. He in- itiated a Reserve Liaison Program with the NROTC Unit at the UW,which has benefited the Unit a great deal. He is active in community activities and is a member of the University President's Club. 8 Lt. Tim Disher is a 1981 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. After completing the typical Nuclear pipeline in March 1983, Lt. Disher reported aboard the USS JOHN ADAMS CSSBN-6205 homeported in Charleston, South Carolina. While aboard he served as Electrical Division Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant and Damage Control Assistant. 'He joined the NROTC team in September 1985. Smith graduated from Cicero High School in upstate New York in 1971. He attended Penn State University and received a B.S. degree ID Chemistry in 1975. LCDR Smith entered OCS in Newport, Rhode Island IH October 1975. After commission in February 1976, he went to Nuclear SSUIZZSCNOOI. Nudear Prototype Training, and Submarine Officer's BBSIC Lcdr. DesRosier enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 1975. Leaving Seattle, Washington, he attended Boot Camp in San Diego California. ln January 1976 he attended Infantry Training School and was assigned to a 106mm Recoiless Rifle Pla- 81S C n 314 Camp Hansen Okinawa for 17 months Gy Sgt. He reenlisted in September 1979 for the Drill field, San Diego, Cagifornia and spent 44 ' t l t O t months as a Drill Instructor. He became a Platoon Sergeanl an a er as pera ions Chief, Weapons Company 111, Camp Pendelton, California in a 81mm Platoon for a total of 24 months. He arrived at the University of Washington as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor in the Summer of 1985. Chief Yeoman Clark graduated from lngraham High School in Seattle and received his Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering in June 1971 from Shoreline Communi- ty College. He joined the Navy in November 1972 and was ordered to Fighter Squadron Twenty Four embarked on the USS HANCOCK CCVA-197 and made two Western Pacific deployments in support of the Vietnam conflict. He was then assigned to the Hydrofoil PLAINVIEW CAGEH-15 and received his Hydrofoil Crewman designation. He then reported to the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, Washington as part of the Commission- ing crew and had the pleasure of seeing the largest military installation built since World War ll become fully operational in July 1981. ln July 1982, he reported as Ship's Secretary onboard the USS SACRAMENTO QAOE-13 homeported in Bremerton Washington. He reported to the University of Washington NROTC Unit in July 1985 as the Unit Administration Officer. He is married to the former Bonnie Freiss of Raleigh, North Carolina. They currenty reside in Bothell, Washington with their two children, Kristie and Kevin. Chief Quartermaster Gregory G. Pyle entered the Navy in 1967 and served as a Quartermaster on the USS PLUNGER QSSN-5951 from 1967 to his discharge in December 1970. He worked in retail management for two years and attended the University of Kansas for two years. He reentered the Navy in 1975 and served on the USS FLASHER CSSN-6137, COMSUNBPAC Staff Hawaii, and the USS HADDOCK CSSN- 621b before coming to the University of Washington in 1984. He is married and has three children, 5 and 3, years old and 3 months old. Current hobbies include golf, ten- nis, racquetball, softball, and bowling. Inactive hobbies include skydiving, scuba diving instructor, hang gliding and hunting. Chief Storekeeper Raul C. Triunfo joined the N ' d the NROTC Unit from us. She has lived in Seattle for six years and worked at the NROTC Unit since 1981. The greatest reward of the job has been making friends with some of the nicest people around-both staff and students fthe most important,'Lcdr. Smith, became her husband this past Junej. She wishes the best to this year's commis- sionees and graduates and hopes to see some of you in the fleet. Pamela M. Nowak is from the San Francisco Bay area and has made Seattle her home since 1978. She is a Group Heath Hospice Volunteer, a part time student at North Seat- tle Community College, and is the proud mother of her cat Charlie and her rabbit Thumper. Marlene Sullivan has been at the University of Washington for twelve years, nine of which have been at the NROTC Unit. She received her degree from Washington State University. She is married to Jim Sullivan who is a coach and a teacher. Marlene and her husband reside in Bothell, Washington. She loves her home, hot tub and their mountain cabin.
