Engineering Society Executive The Executive took office in early March, 1973, a time when enthusiasm spark- ed by the Centennial events of previous months, was at its highest. During the Centennial year, many traditional events, programs and capers had been re- juvenated and the Executive reasoned that, along with providing new and different events and programs, it s uld also try to improve upon the previous year’s events. By improving the quality, the Executive hoped to maintain the Skul e spirit. Centennial enthus iasm -dwi nd 1 ed over the summer and to rekindle a Centennial spirit would be a monstrous feat. The Executive and Council, made up of enthus- iastic people willing to help with the events, re- signed themselves to plan events to maximize student participation and Skule spirit. II i I i !

The entire year ' s activities were planned during the summer and in August, the students were presented with a Skule calendar. Social activities, professional development, conferences, Centennial Lecture series, a new Dean, a first year Bookstore, Orientation and Hart House Farm, Toike 0 i ke and Tiny Toikes, Women in Engineering Dinner, Car Rally, Oktoberfest, Open House, Homecoming and the Float Parade, Slave Auction, Cannonball, Chariot Race, Skule Nite, OAUES, CCES, Elections and Dance, S Dance, Grad Ball, Rites of Spring, Faculty Council, SAC, Blue and Gold, LGMB, BFC, SPSC, Alumni. There was certainly a great deal of interest in the many events held this year. Unfortunately there was very little interest in the actual planning of these events. The few people who worked on the plans deserve a great deal of credit for their time and effort - time and effort spent so the majority could have a real ly good time. The problems this year, and the experience requir- ed to handle them will certainly be of value to the new Executive and Counci 1 . We of the Executive this year can only hope that the information is bene- ficial in planning next year ' s events for you, the student body. But success comes from partic- ipation. So get out and take part and give the Engineering Society the support it needs and deserve and the best of 1 uck to al 1 next year .
