ABOVE Michelle Mulier collecting starfish while reef walking BELOW: Michelle snorkeltng along the Great Barner Reef to Australia Another popular program is the Exchange Agreement Program, which allows up to 41 stu- dents each year to obtain JD credit for study at one of eleven law schools located in eight differ- ent countries. Michelle Mulier was one of the students who studied at the University of Melbourne in Australia. When asked how she prepared for her trip Down Under, Michelle said, I did some research about Melbourne, looking at things like available housing and what kind of weather to expect. Otherwise, I decided to figure it out once I got there. She rented a one bedroom apartment off campus. It was on a block that was wedged between two large public parks, an area that was popular with graduate students and people working at the University. Michelle confessed, The hardest part for me was just the constant low-level frustration of things not working the way I expect them to. After awhile ... I got used to not being able to have certain things I was used to having, and instead got used to having things I ' d never heard of before I came to Australia. One of her favorite discoveries was a little chocolate-covered choco- late cookie called a Tim Tam. Michelle admitted, Tim Tams are seriously additive. I am now in Tim Tam withdrawal. Michelle also got her share of sigh tseeing while in Australia. (One) fantastic experience was my trip to the Great Barrier Reef. I stayed on Heron Island which is a small island on a coral reef in the cooler southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. During the day you could snorkel in the shallows around the island where there were many reef sharks and large manta rays, or you could take a boat out to the edges of the reef to snorkel or scuba among the colorful and varied coral reef formations teeming with all sorts of sea life. It was a fantastic trip and well worth the sunburn. My advice would be that if you ' ve ever had an interest in seeing what it ' s like to live in another country, you should Just do it . Chances like this don ' t come around all that often in life. You shouldn ' t waste them. — Michelle Mulier Michelle found her courses at the University of Melbourne to be a little different than her UT law courses. I was taking graduate level courses in law rather than the undergraduate level courses that make up the basic law curriculum. The courses were therefore very much directed toward offering an immediate practical benefit to profes- sionals, almost more like an intensive CLE here than a law school class, said Michelle. Semester in Australia ■

From the tug-of-war teams to the softball teams, law students competed with as much enthusiasm and determination as any athlete in Salt Lake City. Later they competed in the 5K Race Judicata and the Annual SBA Golf Tournament. Go for the Gold ML $K . Law Week — 13
