G. W. STUMBERG Professor of Law Outstanding authority on Conflict of Laws and author of a book on that subject, he is better known for his teaching of the J.A. course of Criminal Law. Has been known to ask the one-word question, why, at least fifty times in one hour. WALTER T. ROLFE Professor of Architecture Genuinely interested in the affairs of his students. Has a pleasing way of making good advice easy to take. Relaxes by carving wood. CHARLES A. TIMM Professor of Government A rugged idealist. Teaches a course in International Politics and is against the present trend in Europe. Works extremely hard in his yard and enjoys it. SIGURD N. EKDAHL Instructor in Physical Training for Men. Lt. Col. Ekdahl was decorated by King George V during last war. Has numerous medals for shoot- ing and fencing. Hunts deer and has a cottage on Lake Inks where he fishes. A. E. COOPER Professor of Applied Mathematics and Astronomy Noted for his informal classroom manner and hard exams. He is a man of few words. Loves good horse flesh.

W. PAGE KEETON Professor of Low Added to his regular chores this year is the job of Assistant Dean of the School of Law. Foremost Texas graduate on the subject of Tort Law. Enjoys as recrea- g bridge with his attractive wife and read- ing to his children. R H. MONTGOMERY Professor of Economics Best known for his bushy hair and interesting course in corporate finance. Outside the schoolroom his inter- est is in his beautiful home and garden and his two bushy-haired dogs. SAMUEL E. GIDEON Professor of Architectural Design and His- tory A man ' s home is his castle is literally true here as the Gideon home is built in the style of a medieval castle. Interested in pho- tography and early Texas archi- tecture. Writes a regular column for an Austin paper under psuedo e S.E.G. W. E. METZENTHIN Professor of Germanic Languages Extremely interested in University Sports, he spends a majority of his spare time working with ath- letes. Is faculty sponsor of the Longhom Boxing Club. HOWARD CALKINS Assistant Professor of Government Plays at tennis, golf, and fishing when not teaching citizens of to- morrow how to run their govern- ment. Is shown mixing mortar for the retaining wall which he is building.

ARTHUR DEEN Professor of Geology Perhaps the best dressed man on the campus and surely one of the most compelling lecturers. Used to shock freshmen with his enlightening course in Gen- eral Geology. Makes very good amateur movies. EDWARD CRANE Professor of Law Good-natured and understanding, professor Crane is director of the new Legal Aid Clinic and a member of the Board of Publications in addition to teaching his regular classes. Obtains great pleasure from his pre- view of the Ranger, of which he is one of the censors. CAPT. H. W. UNDERWOOD Pro- fessor, Naval Science and Tactics New to the campus, he is com- mandant of the new Naval R.O. T.C. unit. He is an expert archer. GRANVILLE PRICE Assistant Professor of Journalism Graduate of the University and erstwhile editor of The Daily Texan he is well-known for his scrapbook of newspaper blunders and interesting courses. Gets his exercise on the handball court and walking the floor with his young son. CLARENCE MORRIS Professor of Law Comparatively new to us, he is spending his second year here teaching lawyers how to think. His functional theory of the study of law and fascinating lecture procedure are outstanding char- acteristics.
