HARPER DEflN EMERITUS OF THE GRflDUflTE SCHOOL Professor of chemistry and beloved character of the campus, Dean Harper will always be remembered for his red tie and ever-present umbrella, fln avid movie fan, he is particularly fond of Greta Garbo. T. U. TAYLOR DEflN EMERITUS OF THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING The University ' s Grand Old Man came here 7hen the Forty Acres resembled a pasture and has watched and helped it grow for fifty years. CHARLES T. McCORMICK DEflN OF THE SCHOOL OF LflW The new dean of law is not new to the Univer- sity, having received his B.A. here. He took his LL.B. at Harvard and returned to teach here from 1922 to 1926. Again he returned to the University in 1940 to take his present posi- tion. Likes picture shows. WILLIAM FRANCIS GIDLEY DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF PHHRMflCY The outstanding pharmacy school of the South- west is directed by progressive Dean Gidley. Member of the American Chemical Association, American Pharmaceutical Association, and the Association of American Bacteriologists, the Dean gets away from his work by playing with optical instruments such as the Abbe Refrac- tometer. W. R. WOOLRICH DEflN OF THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING Dean Woolrich has taken an active part in the nation ' s rush toward preparedness. His is the job of turning out men capable of planning and running our vital industries. He has a great interest in the Civil Aeronautics Author- ity and is an expert on air-conditioning. Page 19

W. PAGE KEETON Professor of Low Added to his regular chores this year is the job of Assistant Dean of the School of Law. Foremost Texas graduate on the subject of Tort Law. Enjoys as recrea- g bridge with his attractive wife and read- ing to his children. R H. MONTGOMERY Professor of Economics Best known for his bushy hair and interesting course in corporate finance. Outside the schoolroom his inter- est is in his beautiful home and garden and his two bushy-haired dogs. SAMUEL E. GIDEON Professor of Architectural Design and His- tory A man ' s home is his castle is literally true here as the Gideon home is built in the style of a medieval castle. Interested in pho- tography and early Texas archi- tecture. Writes a regular column for an Austin paper under psuedo e S.E.G. W. E. METZENTHIN Professor of Germanic Languages Extremely interested in University Sports, he spends a majority of his spare time working with ath- letes. Is faculty sponsor of the Longhom Boxing Club. HOWARD CALKINS Assistant Professor of Government Plays at tennis, golf, and fishing when not teaching citizens of to- morrow how to run their govern- ment. Is shown mixing mortar for the retaining wall which he is building.
