PUBLISHES THE BLAST The Press Club of the University of South Dakota is a journalistic c club open to any student. It is under the authority of the Publications Board and the guidance of Mr. Van Omeron. The officers are: Barb Grier-President, Bill Willoughby-Vice Pres- ident, Marsha Dristy-Treasurer, and Dianna Woodford-Secretary. The Press Club is making a major change this year. The Magazine has now become The Blast , the new official humor magazine. The Blast will be published twice a year or more. Press Club members discuss content for the next Blast Diana Woodford, Barb Grier, Barb Liston and Jill Klatt lay out pages for the Blast.

Mr. Van Ommeren is a graduate of the University of South Dakota and received his masters from the University of Wisconsin. He worked on the Minneapolis Star until joining the faculty this fall. Here at the University, he teaches reporting, copy editing and article writing and is advisor to Press Club. OUR ADVISORS Mr. Andera is no longer on the faculty here, but is a member of the Publications Board and advisor for the Volante. He is attending law school while working for the Vermillion Police Department. THE LITERARY MAGAZINE Editors for the Literary Magazine are: seated; Don Ferguson, standing; Nancy Myers. Vern Peterson, Jim Sprecher. The Literary Magazine is a depart- mental publication from the English Department. It is composed of poetry, essay, short story and drama, and any student may contribute. The edi- tors accept contributions from the beginning of the year until February 18. The Advisors for the Literary Mag- azine are Dr. Knutson, Dr. Milton and Mrs. Lindenau. These advisors pick the editors.
