The year began with reg- 6-3 The end of the trial for Salkehatchie's beauties. i 'Q' 1 L S co souus istration. Freshmen were lost, sophomores were bored, and the faculty was fagged out. Salkehatchie welcomed its new students with a bang at the Shrimp Aupper. The party started when Dixie, Bobby, and Monty left for Beaufort to get the shrimp. Everyone danced under the stars and the evening was climaxed when Phil hosted quite a drop-in! That started off Salkehatchie's year. Naturally everyone was initiated into Salkehatchie's "bridge club." Somehow we wore out about ten decks of cards . "Tedious labor" was re- quired to build Salkehatchie's "beautiful" Christmas float. The paper blew off, the tepee fell, and the girls froze, but, face it, we were one of the best . First semester ended with a band with one pre -exam party at Hampton. Everyone ate Mr. Curtis' delicious red snapper andthen danced to the soul music of the "Exe otics." jeff and Eleanor Hal- sey entertained afterwards with a much needed breakfast party--lots of coffee was served! The memories were dampened when we learned of Frances' accident. lt wasn't serious, and she was 'soon back in school. LKEHATCHIE K S ,,,,Ax ,, Q , N:-.W Si' "cis, f Spring fever hits even when you're in a borrowed dress and high heeled shoes. MAMA Springtime brought the bats, balls, and boats . Softball became the thing on Mrs. Bobbi's beautiful grass on the front lawn. The girls tried hard and with Mr. Curtis' umpiring the games were almost competitive. Janice had a little trouble with her skirt, Anne had a black eye, and Elaine had skinned knees . However, you just can't keep those Wo- men down. Java, Brother Creech, Little john, and I-Iall got out the boats and the coolers and headed for the river With Doremos close behind. The sand bar and the river got more and more popular as time went on and ,the sun got hotter. Annual deadlines came before our final spring party but rest assured Salkehatchie swingers will do their best to end the year Wiser, but just as they began.
