Lx if ug., sa it - a gi Q 1 xi . a i 9 1 l True Christmas spirit pervaded Uni in the week before vacation. As each class decorated its designated area of campus, the school was submerged in a sea of red and green, setting a festive tone for the week's events. At the Box Lunch Auction, students had the opportunity to bid on lunches to be served by a favorite teacher or friend. The ASB sold hot spiced cider and Christmas cookies while the Campus Ministry and Religion Departments sponsored a Christmas Bazaar. Handcrafted items from St. Madeleine Sophie's, the retired sisters of the Immaculate Heart, and Uni students were available at bargain prices. Santa Claus was on hand, bearing an astonishing resemblance to Mr. Altamirano, to be photographed with Uni students. All proceeds from the sales went to charity. The week ended with delivery of candy cane Christmas wishes and a Mass celebrated Leo T. Maher. On February 18, 1982, Dr. Michael Dean returned to Uni to re-educate the students about hypnotism. He demonstrated the power of suggestion to the subconscious as student volunteers laughed and cried at imaginary movies, tried in vain to put on their shoes, and flirted with people in the audience. Dr. Dean showed the captivated onlookers how hypnotism is used as therapy by curing Dan Farney of his nail-biting habit. He regress- ed Dan to the age of six and discovered that the problem arose from a case of stage fright. To end the show, Dr. Dean told his subjects that they were various celebrities, sent them into the audience, and called them back to the stage with particular songs, Kelly Harrington per- formed Hit Me with Your Best Shot while under the impression that she was Pat Benatar, and Mark MacCarthy was electrifying as the lead vocalist of Devo singing and dancing to Whip It. Ballerinas Dan Farney and Mike 'W' Whelan displayed diverse talents when they ,M joined the rest of the male subjects in the strip tease that closed the show. f -E X ,if 1.
