HX-, DIDIUJTIUH No one could more adequately typify our theme of school and city than Miss May Keller, former Dean of Westhampton College. The majority of students will quickly identify Miss Keller as the gray-but-spirited little lady who strolls briskly along the campus by- paths, attended only by her dogs. Others, who have talked with her, will recall the intensely interesting and remarkably informed conversa- tion that never lags in her presence. Her life has been one of complete and constant devotion to the bet- terment not only of her school, but also of the city in which she has lived for so many years. She has always endeavored to prove, by leadership and by example, that the improvement of Man and his Society is the goal for which we must strive. To illustrate more clearly the important role Miss Keller has played in school and community, we cite only a few of her myriad activities concerning the University and the City of Richmond. She is City Commander of the Richmond Chapter of the American Cancer Society, acting President of the Board of Collegiate School Qand has been on the board for several yearsj, a representative of the Cancer Society on the Community Fund Board, and served on the Federal Grand jury for six months last year. In addition, she is Membership Chairman of the Altrusa Club, an international service club for execu- tive and professional women. She is a member of many other groups and organizations such as the Richmond Area Community Council, the Health Committee of Y .W.C.A., the city association of Phi Beta Kappa, the Richmond Branch of the American Association of Uni- versity Women, the Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma fa profes- sional fraternity for teachersj, the Virginia Academy of Science, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Valentine Museum, the Musicians Club, Pi Beta Phi social fraternity, and the Woman's Club. She is also an honorary member of I-Iadassah, a jewish Women's organization. In addition to these purely local activities, Miss Keller has travelled extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Therefore, we fondly dedicate this annual to the very epitome of Richmond-school and city-Miss May Keller. Miss May Keller
