Increase in stu- dent citizens has meant development of the University State along every line. Facilities must grow. This year we saw dedi- cation of the new Women ' s Quadrangle as one of the nation ' s finest centers for college women. Enlargement of Owen Field Stadium to hold 53,000 OV football fans was completed. And we watched the beginning of a new expansion of the Oklahoma Mcniinl;;! rn .n buiMin ' -. With the physical growth of the University mushroomed a new development, Sooner City. Owen Stadium Is -nI;iiii;L ' d and modernized l v the addition of a new north end. Steam shovels and trucks make way for the new south of the Union Building.

Hur progress and welfare of the two have been, and always will be interwoven closely. In 1892, in a rented building, the L niver- sity opened her doors to pioneer Territorial students. Soon sin- occupied a lone building of her own on bald prairie. H l ' X)7, when Oklahoma become a State, there were 7 ' X1 students — ,1 6 of them at college level. The late president, William Bennett Bizzell, leading an early graduating class into Holinberg. first building was destroyed by lire few years after completion.
