Tl-IE IDIQESIDETTTS WESSAGE The YUCCA for 1946-47 depicts North Texas State College in a year of record enrollment, when here and through- out the nation institutions of higher learning have met un- precedented problems. These problems could not have been dealt with if the student body had not taken numerous diffi- culties cmd inconveniences with unfailing patience and high good humor. Veterans have shown that they know how to be as good citizens in peace as in war, and the non-veterans have been equally cooperative. That college students have not let temporary difficulties stand in the way of their personal prog- ress is a good augury for a happy solution to the many large problems which face the nation and the world. This yearbook, like those of the past, shows the rich tex- ture of student and faculty life on this campus. lt will serve in the future as a reminder of fruitful, pleasant days-long after crowding and shortages are forgotten. The college is growing and changing, but the lasting values of an enjoyable, profitable, and democratic life on our campus, as pictured here, will endure. l congratulate the staff of the YUCCA for having put into permanent form so vivid a record of this college year.

BCDARD CDF IQEGEVWTS Under the Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, the seven state colleges are governed by a common Board of Regents. This committee is made up of businessmen, lawyers, doctors, and just plain citizens, in their hands lies the final authority insofar as College administration is concemed. To them is en- trusted the Welfare of the vast plants of these centers of higher education. Theirs is a difficult and thankless task, and they are to be complimented and praised for their efforts. V.
