5 I 3 i 1 fr , .. W' 9 1 R U S H During the merry month of May when most young menls fancies turn to thoughts of love or at least to finals, the Greek letter fraternities begin to huddle. Summer rush at U.K.G. is approaching. Rush to every fraternity is a barter. The fraternity must sell a quality or a commodity that makes it attractive to the rushee. This quality, in essence, is a way of life. Greek men at this time best ex- amplify this quality by being true brothers. They hope, in return, to 'ipurchasell or pledge the type of men that someday will be one of their Hillustrious alumsf, Sorority debs, too, are whirling rushees on a madcap merry-go-round. If the rushees could peer behind this confettied curtain of gaiety they would see'the substantial and lasting values of sorority life at work. The loyalty of sisterhood has inspired an outpouring of devotion to the great Greek tradition of rush. Although the rushees can not part this curtain and see a summer piled high with charted planning sessions, she can see the loyalty, self- respect, and responsibility generated within each sister- hood as the revelry of parties, skits, teas, coke-dates, and yell-ins unfold before her. The sororities create an atmos- phere of hospitality, friendliness, and graciousness on campus. Sororities and Fraternities, while entertaining, instruct by stressing the material accomplishments of their chapters and, above all, the personal worth and character ofthose who wear the Greek symbols.
