Miss Margaret Dudley, Director of the ele- mentary teacher training program of the school of Education, was named to the chair of learn- ing established by the University Women's Club of Kansas City. Miss Dudley joins three other name professors, Dr. Eugene Altschul, Harzfeld Professor of Economics, Dr. Ernest Manheim, Haskell Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Maria Castellani, Haag Professor of Mathe- matics. The alumni of UKC reorganized this year, adopting a new constitution and by-laws and working through nine active committees, to provide a variety of services to both the alumni and the school itself. A totally new group was organized this year on campus, the University Associates, a non- fund raising organization designed to bring The University closer to the community, and to help The University interpret the educa- tional needs of the community. For the stu- dent, The University advanced in several new directions. A new registration and grade recording and filing system was set up, built around new IBM automatic accounting ma- chines to help speed up registration informa- tion. Permission to set up Crant and Aid plans for the athletic department was given by the board. Such has been the past year-the streetcar tracks are rapidly fading through the doorway of past history, as the school on the hill fights desperately to open the door to the future.
