Perhaps one could have done more, if it had mattered at the time. .-yes, it was a change. after the army, even after high school. It was funny to think that it was done and finished and the time had passed so quickly. -there wasn't much then. none of the wooden huildings. hut it grew. i didn't think to stay. then i was out. She glanced across the tahle. ,-sure. and those foundation courses. i caught up on my sleep, if nothing else. If it could he done over again, it would prohahly he the same, and now they were sorry to leave. There was so much ahead that was rather frightening. '--no more bridge in the roost. weyve got to try and use some of what we learned now. ,-one has to start sometime. get a joh, get married, try to contribute something to the world. They had to live in the future and only rememher the past, hut there would he homecomings and friends to talk and remember with. 25
