' Dean of Men Dean Guess is serving the University in two official positions, namely, Dean of lllen and Acting General Secretary of the Young lIen's Christian As- sociation. As Dean of Klen he serves as advisor to the men students and controls the men student activities on the campus. As General Secretary of the Y. RI. C. A. he heads religious activities on the campus. EDGAR LEE WALKER, B.A. Director of Athletics and Physical Education It is required that every student on entering the University participate in some form of athletics for the first two years in school. It is under the supervision of the Athletic Department, that this work is carried on. Teams in all phases of sports have been carefully trained and as a result have made a name for the University in that field of education. JEFFERSON KOGER I-IAMM, B.S. Alumni Secretary The Alumni Secretary of the University of lllississippi has many duties to perform. It is through this office that the alumni are informed as to the ac- tivities of the students. Furthermore the duty lies in this position to make all arrangements for athletic games that the University participates in. R. Joi-IN LEE GAINEY, B.A. Secretary and Business Manager It is through the office of the Secretary and Business Nlanager that all pur- chases and all payments are made for the University. The Cafeteria and the Laundry are supervised under this department, as well as all improvements on buildings and grounds. This so important position has been most capably filled by hir. Gainey, since he assumed the responsibility in 1932. Page 23
