ALAN N. POLASKY Professor of Law Born in 1923, Mr. Polasky received his B.S.C., 1947,C.P.A. 1948, and J.D. 1951, from the State University of Iowa. He was ad- mitted to practice in Iowa and Illinois in 1951. He practiced law in Chicago in 1951-53 and was an assistant professor of law at North- western University 1953-55 and associate professor until he came to Ann Arbor in 1957. He teaches Evidence, Accounting, Federal Income Taxation, and Estate Planning. S cf-L' ' JAMES J. WHITE Assistant Professor of Law Born in 1934, Mr. White graduated from Amherst QA.B.J and University of Michigan fJ.D.l. He served in the U.S.A.F. 1956-59 and 1961-62, practiced law in Los Angeles 1962-64 and is a member of the California Bar Association. His hobby is flying and he is married and has two children. ANDREW WATSON Associate Professor of Law Professor Watson is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University Medical School. After three years of residency in Psychiatry hejoined the faculty ofthe University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1955. In 1959 Professor Watson came to the Uni- versity of Michigan as a faculty member both in the Medical School's Department of Psychiatry and in the Law School. He complements the teachingof Criminal Law, Trials Kz Appeals, and Legal Education with a Seminar in Law and Criminology with Professor George. Dr. Watson is married and has two sons.

BEVERLY JOHN POOLEY Assistant Professor of Law Born in 1934, Mr. Pooley received his M.A. degree from Cambridge in 1956 and LL.B. in 1957. He came to the University of Michigan as a graduate student in 1957 and got his LL.M. in 1958. He Worked in the Legislative Research Center with Pro- fessor Pierce writing two monographs on the legal problems of metropolitan areas. He received his S.J.D. in 1960 from the University of Michigan. From 1960 to 1962 he was a lecturer in the department of law at the University of Gahna teaching Torts, Contracts and Constitutional Law. In 1962 he became an Instructor at the University of Michigan and in 1963 he became an Assistant Professor of Law and Assistant to the Director of the Law Library. EDWARD J. KIONKA Instructor in Law Mr. Kionka was born in Oak Park, Illinois, in 1939 and re- ceived his B.S, 119601 and LL.B. 119623 degrees from the University of Illinois. He was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1962, and practiced with the Chicago law firm of Leibman, Williams, Bennett and Baird from June 1962 to July 1964. He taught the Legal Method Seminar at Columbia University Law School during the Fall Term of the 1962-63 school year. Mr. Kionka is married and has a son and a daughter. ARNOLD W. REITZE, JR. Instructor in Law Mr. Reitze was born in 1938, attended Fairleigh Dickin- son University 1A.B,J and Rutgers University Law School 1LL.B.D. He served as a part-time instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University 119623, was attorney for the Hartford Insurance Group 119631, and was a teaching Associate at Indiana University Law School 11963-643. 25

ERIC STEIN Professor of Law Mr. Stein was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1913. In 1937 he received his J.U.D. degree with distinction from the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He came to the United States in 1940 and enrolled in the University of Michigan Law School in 1940. He received his J.D. degree in 1942 from Michigan. Late in 1942 he joined the United States Army and was assigned to Military Government. After discharge from the Army in 1946 he becamea member of the staff of the United States Department of State with the United Nations Affairs Bureau. He has been teaching at the University of Michigan since 1955. He teaches International Law, Conflict of Laws, and Law and Institutions of the Atlantic Area. Professor Stein is co-editor fwith Peter Hayl of Cases and Ma- terials on the Law Ka Institutions of the Atlantic Area, and co-editor and co-author Qwith Thomas L. Nichol- sony of American Enterprise in the European Common Market-fTLegaI-Profile. KNUD WAABEN Visiting Professor of Law Born in 1921, Mr. Waaben graduated from the University of Copenhagen 1947 fcand. jr.J and received the J.D, in 1957. He served as secretary in the Danish Ministry of Justice 1947-55, Secretary to the Danish Criminal Law Commission 1950-59, Lecturer in Law at the University of Copenhagen 1949-55, Director of Institute of Criminal Science at University of Copenhagen since 1957, Vice-chairman of the Danish Criminal Law Commission since 1961 and Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Copenhagen since 1955. He has studied at Cambridge, Paris, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Michigan. He is author of Suspended Sentences Q1948l and Criminal Intention 119573. Mr. Waaben is married andhas four children. RICHARD VANCE WELLMAN Professor of Law Born in 1922, Mr. Wellman received his A.B. in 1947 and his J.D. in 1949 from the University of Michigan. He was admitted to practice in Ohio in 1949 and in Michigan in 1959. He practiced in Cleveland and Mount Vernon, Ohio from 1949 to 1954 in which year he became a member of the faculty. He teaches Trusts and Estates, Future Interests, Financiary Administration, and Property. Mr. Wellman is co-editor fwith George E. Palmerl of Cases and Materials on Trusts and Succession and co-editor Qwith Olin L. Browder, Jr., of Family Property Settlements. Professor Wellman also serves as Placement Counsellor, a member of the Uni- versity Senate Advisory Committee since 1962,and Chairman of the Committee during 1964-65. He is married and has six children.
