,lil s.,xsJ Ri. SPENCER L. KIMBALL Professor of Law Born in 1918, Mr. Kimball attended the University of Arizona from which he received his B.S. in 1940. He did further work at the University of Colorado and the University of Utah before receiving his B.C.L. from Oxford University 1EnglandJ in 1949. After serving as an assistant professor of Mathematics at the University of Utah from 1946-1947, he became as- sociate Professor of Law in 1949-1954, and finally a Professor of Law from 1954-1957. He has been at the University of Michigan as Professor of Law since 1957, teaching Insurance, Introduction to Legal System, and Law Sz Society Seminar. After serving as Lt. in the United States Navy from 1943-1946, he became a Rockefeller fellow in 1955-56. During 1955-56, he held a Rockefeller Research Grant at the University of Wisconsin, working on a functional study of the development of insurance law in historical context. He received his S.J.D. degree fromwisconsin in 1958. He is the author of Insurance and Public Policy. w PAUL G. KAUPER Professor of Law Born in 1907, Mr. Kauper received his A.B. degree in 1929 from Earlham College, and his J. D. in 1932 from the University of Michigan. He was admitted to practice in Indiana in 1931, in New York in 1936, and in Michigan in 1946. He was associated with the law firm of White Kr Case in New York City from 1934 to 1936. He was a part time instructor in law at the University of Michigan in 1934, assistant professor of law from 1936 to 1939, associate professor of law from 1939 to 1946, and has been professor of law since 1946. He was on leave of absence from 1942 to 1945 with the Pan American Petroleum Ka Transport Co., Legal Dept., New York City. In 1959 he was guest professor at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign Public and International Law at Heidelberg, Germany. He is the author of Cases and Materials on Constitutional Law 12nd ed., 19605, Frontiers of Constitutional Liberty 119561, Civil Liberties and the Constitution 119621, co-author of Cases on Municipal Corpora- tions 11959J and Religion and the Constitution 119645. Mr. Kauper is married and has two children one ofwhom has recently joined the University of Michigan' Law Faculty. THOMAS E. KAUPER Assistant Professor of Law Mr. Kauper was born in 1935. He received an A.B. degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1960, and was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1962. From 1960 to 1962 Mr. Kauper served as law clerk to Associate Justic Potter Stewart of the Supreme Court of the United States. From 1962 to 1964, when he joined the faculty, he was associated with the firm of Sidley, Austin, Burgess Ka Smith in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Kauper teaches Property and Trusts and Estates I. ROGER A. CUNNINGHAM Professor of Law Born in 1921, Mr. Cunningham received his S.B. degree in 1942 and his LL.B. degree in 1948, both from Harvard University. Hewas admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1948. Hepracticed law in Massa- chusetts from 1948 to 1949. He was a teaching fellow at Harvard Law School in 1949-50. He was an assis- tant professor of law at George Washington University Law School from 1950 to 1954, an associateprofessor of law at Rutgers University Law School from 1954 to 1957 and a professor of law at Rutgers from 1957 to 1959. He has beenaprofessor of law at Michigan since 1959. He teaches Property, Security, and Land Utili- zation Seminar. Professor Cunningham is married and has four children. B. J. GEORGE, JR. Professor of Law Born in 1925, Mr. George received an A.A.degree in 1947 from Kansas City Junior College, his A.B. in 1949 and J.D. in 1951 from the University of Michi- gan. He was admitted to practice in Missouri in 1951 and in Michigan in 1952 and before the Board of Immigration Appeals in 1954. He was with the Rich- mond County Investigation in New York City from 1951 to 1952. He has taught at the University of Michigan since 1952. He teaches Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure. He was with the 100th LF. Division from 1943 to 1946. During 1956-57 he was on leave at Kyoto University in Japan. DeVINE Assistant Professor of Law Born in 1916, Mr. DeVine received his A.B.in 1937 and J.D. in 1940 from the University of Michigan, and LL,M. in 1941 from Catholic University. He was admitted to practice in Michigan in 1940. He was a partner in the firm of DeVine Kr DeVine in Ann Arbor from 1946 to 1954, Chief Assistant Prosecuting At- torney for Washtenaw County from 1947 to 1952, and Prosecuting Attorney from 1953 to 1958. He was a lecturer in Criminal Law at the University of Michigan from 1949 to 1952, assistant professor since 1952. He teaches Criminal Law, Civil Procedure, Practice Court, and Drafting Legal Documents. ALFRED FLETCHER CONARD Professor of Law Born in 1911, Mr. Conard received his A.B. in 1932 from Grinnell College, attended the State Uni- versity of Iowa from 1932 to 1934, received an LL.B. in 1936 from the University of Pennsylvania,an LL.M. in 1939 and J.S.D. in 1942 from Columbia University. He practiced in Philadelphia from 1936 to 1938. He was a visiting assistant professor at the University of Kansas City from 1939 to 1942, professor of law at the University of Illinois from 1946 to 1954, and professor of law at the University of Michigan since 1954. He teaches Business Associations, Financial Reorganization, Corporations, and European Business Organizations. He is editor of Cases on Business Or- ganization now in its second edition and other books and articles. Professor Conard is married and has two daughters. CARL S. HAWKINS Associate Professor of Law Born in 1926, Mr. Hawkins graduated. from Brig- ham Young University with an A.B. in 1948 and North- western conferred his L.L.B.in 1951. Hewas admitted to practice in Illinois and in the District of Columbia in 1951. He served as Law Clerk to Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson, U.S. Supreme Court, during 1952 and 1953. His practice in Washington, D.C., 1951-57, included prosecuting Indian tribal claims against the government. He is a member of the American and District of Columbia Bar Associations. He teaches Torts and Jurisdiction Xt Judgments and was instru- mental in the adoption of Michigan's new code of pro- cedure. Professor Hawkins has been atthe University of Michigan since 1957. ROGER C. CRAMTON Professor of Law Born in 1929, Mr. Cramton received his B.A.from Harvard in 1950. He was admitted to practice in Vermont in 1956 and in Michigan in 1962. He was Law Clerk to Hon. Sterry R. Water- man, U.S. Ct. of Appeals 12d Cir.J in 1955 and 1956g to Hon. Harold A. Burton, Assoc. Justic, U.S. Supreme Court, 1956 and 1957. He was an assistant professor of law at the University of Chicago from 1957 to 1961, where he was Assistant Dean and Chairman, Committee on Graduate Study from 1959 to 1961. He was a visiting associate professor of law at the University of Michigan during the year 1961-62 and has been an associate professor of law since 1962.
