Executive Director of the Alumni Association; James Colvtn, EcJitor of the Illinois Alumni News; Wayne Bennett, PresicJent of the Alumni Association Alumni Association The University of Illinois Alumni Association speaks for, and works for, some 90,000 people who hove earned degrees in the University — and for many thousands of others who call the U. of I. their alma mater. This Alumni Association is one of the few in the United States which enlists the interest and membership of students. Hundreds of mini join the U. of 1. Alumni Association even before they receive their degrees. The Association assists lllini Union committees in arranging numerous campus activities. For as many alumni as it can reach by mail, the Association keeps current addresses. Just this one job of posting address changes requires the full time of a half dozen experienced people. They process the addresses of about 70,000 people at the rate of more than 3,000 a month. The Association ' s office, at 227 lllini Union, keeps up a lively correspondence with many thousands of lllini living in all parts of the world. The list of tasks performed for all these former stu- dents is as long as it is varied — from locating old classmates to seeing what can be done about lost football tickets. Each year the Association helps arrange and conduct lllini club meetings in many parts of the world. Thousands of people have heard speakers from the campus or seen football movies which moke them feel that actually they have paid a visit to the campus. Almost every month the organization sends Illinois Alumni News to more than 60,000 lllini from coast to coast and in for- eign countries. The magazine, in tabloid newspaper form, contains news of alumni by classes, of lllini clubs, as well as information about the progress of the University itself. 29 ■Tt Warren Ramshaw, Alumni Re- lofions Department Head
