ANUARY As school reconvened at the beginning of a new year, halls and classrooms were again flooded with students and activity. It was fun to greet teachers and friends who were not seen over the holidays. Memories of the New Year's tourney and Christmas vacation were fresh in the minds of the students as they once again got back into the swing of their studies. Before long, not only a new year had started but also .1 new semester as well-the old one having ended with those much- dreaded final exams. However, students were given a few days at the end of the exam week to recuperate, while teachers made out grades. "Oh Happy Day!" or "Blue Monday!" was January 7, when students returned to the familiar halls and received their report cards. Off to a new start with a new semes- ter ahead of them, students looked forward to the opportunities and activities that lay in the future. Yes, a new start was made as the old year went out and the new year Came in. Struggling over those books near exam week are ,Ion Rickert. Barbara Hopf, and Warren Richardson. However, the boys who moved into the vacancies in the line-up lost no time in proving themselves capable of playing good football. By the time the first game rolled around. Coach Gray had a smoothly-functioning unit 3 2 which improved steadily throughout the season. The season opened with the Univees playing host to Dugger, a perennial and greatly-respected rival, the visitors went home with the short end of a 19-0 score. The following week Greencastle felt the full effects of the Univeejs power and absorbed a 34-0 defeat. The next victory for the Graymen was one of the sweetest. Beginning their activities, they created their own articles for work and play by making drums and number games. Through correspondence with a former classmate in England, and by reading poems and stories of previous coronations. the stu- dents became interested in the future Coro- nation of the Queen. These are just a few of the activities en- joyed by the Kindergarten throughout the school year. -url- G--- ' Nursery School llntering their first days of school life, students in the Nursery School carried on a wide variety of activities during the school year. In teaching these young pupils, stress was placed on learning to get along with each other and working together. This year, the children learned about the wild animals of the jungle. Following their study, they drew pictures and gave reports on the animals. FIRST C R ADI Dun Xbram 'knn.1 Lu KIgx.111LILr Ing XppI1.1,.111. Nnlda Bark 1' Ruth C .1r1'11.II una B1 nu.
