WILLIAM TATE Dean of Students Dean Tjtc explains the housing problem to a veteran Dean Tate received his A.B. Degree from the University of Georgia in 1924 and his A M. Degree from the University in 1928. He also attended Columbia University and Harvard. Before becoming Dean of Students in 1942, he was Dean of Freshmen. While a student at Georgia, Dean Tate served as president of the Y.M.C.A and was a member of the Cross Country Track Team. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. PRESIDENT HARMON W. CALDWELL Dr Caldwell received his B A degree after two years ' work at the University of Georgia. He received his law degree at Harvard in 1924. He was later conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by Emory, Mercer, and Tulane Universities Dr. Caldwell was admitted to the Georgia bar in 1926, and taught law at Emory Uni- versity for a short time. Upon leaving Emory he became Professor of Law at the University of Georgia, becoming Dean of the Lumpkin Law School in 1933. In 1935 he was chosen by the Board of Regents as President of this University. Dr. Caldwell is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Delta Phi, Sphinx, and Chi Phi, social f rater PRESIDENT CALDWELL AND COACH WALLACE BUTTS

DOLORES ARTAU Student Counselor Miss Artau received her A B and MA Degrees from the University of Georgia. She was French Fellow, 1936-37, from the University of Georgia and the Institute of International Education. Her professional experience has been in fields of Romance Languages and Counselling. During World War II she did supervisory work of a special confidential division in the Office of Censorship. Miss Artau came to the University in 1946 from G.S.C.W. where she was Acting Head of the Department of Spanish She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Pi Gamma Mu WALTER MARTIN Dean of Coordinate Campus Dr. Martin received his AB Degree at Furman University, his MA Degree at the University of Georgia, and his Ph D. Degree at the University of North Carolina He has been instructor, assistant professor of history, and from 1943-45 he was acting head of the history department Dr Martin is the author of Florida During Territorial Days and at present he is writing the Life of Henry M Flagler He has also contributed several articles to historical magazines He is a member of the Southern His- torical Association, the Florida Historical Association, the Mississippi Valley His- torical Association, the Athens Kiwanis Club, Alpha Phi Omega, Pi Kappa Phi. and Gridiron He was winner of the Michael Research Award, 1 I
