Each class must harmonize with other classes within the department, each department must dovetail with every other, the three col- leges must be properly integrated. Fac- ulty Xr administration spend weary weeks upon these problems tar in advance ot returning student hordes. l932-I933 saw three tormerly unrelated tac- ulties working as one in what had become by reorganization the common cause. Faculties ot Franklin College, Agricultural College 84 Education College joined torces, worked side by side just as they are pictured tor the tirst time in I933 PANDORA. Democratic spirit toward the student body has tor years marked Georgia's taculty. All the South knows ot its democracy 84 intormal- ity, treely admits it is never surpassed, rarely equalled. Cynical observers suggested intormality had led to triendship, friendship had led to sym- pathy, sympathy had prevented professors .N fi k.' . driving students as disciples ot the old school telt students should be driven. lvlooted became the question when the quar- ter system, tirst tried in '32-'33 saved protes- sors the trouble, drove students 'til they wailed under its lash. Faculty itselt had problems ot its own when depression's bite slashed salaries, reduced personnel, made harried protessors carry greater teaching loads at lessened salaries. True to tradition, they bore up under in- creased burdens, gave their best to the in- stitution, aided reorganization. More than ever deserving appreciation, their loyalty was not overlooked, earned them increased re- spect trom thinking students. .23.
