Social dance courses are an integral part of the recreation curriculum, Training coaches and teachers for public schools was only one aspect of the College of Physical Education and Health. Students were encouraged to become involved in health agencies and church recreational facilities. The psychological nature as well as the physical capabilities of the individual were investigated in a research laboratory equipped to facilitate experiments along both lines. The college organized extracurricular activities in most of the sports it offered in its curriculum. These groups competed outside the University and also held shows open to all University students. Baseball, and all other popular sports, are the activities around which a P. E. major ' s day revolves. 180
