BAILEY-MEMBERS OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION board of education UNDER THE LEADERSHIP of the Governor and containing four members of his cabinet, this board is concerned with all stages of state education from kindergarten to univer- sities. It is the body which approves recommendations or nominations presented by the Board of Control con- cerning state university activities, and also sets standards for and accredits teachers as well as schools on all grade levels. As the legal holder of all educational institutions, the Board of Education proves an example of outstanding state government. board of control PERTAINING TO ALL students, the Board of Control is composed of seven outstanding business and professional men, appointed by the Governor, from seven different counties, excluding those in which there is a state univer- sity. It is concerned with matters of importance to all state universities, and especially with presenting a real- istic financial picture to the state legislature. On academic affairs it recommends forming or naming of new universities, such as the University of South Flor- ida in Tampa, and also nominates deans of newly organ- ized colleges within these institutions to be approved by the Board of Education. As a recipient of BS, MS, PhD, and LLD degrees from outstanding universities and colleges throughout the United States, Dr. Reitz ' s qualifications are tioned.
