The year l9fl2-43 has been a very busy one for Beta Zeta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. Like every other chapter on the campus changes in membership have been great, Highlights of the year have been: a lightning-like three- day rush week which ended with the pledging of twenty-four boysg a memorable l-lome-coming without the usual decora- tions and large number of alumni but with the usual amount of good spiritsg a buffet' supper during Fall Fralicsj the use of the telephone booth to sleep in by one of the Brothersg weekly trips to Tallahassee by many of the brothersg the Kappa Qllplia Geiger Major 1 Frazier Green Musk McCoy Whiteside Dubose Masters Beckman Parsons May Woodward Dorsey Cotten McKee Drake Hardin Alexander Brabhom McLeran Keel Schwartz Hetzer Williams Spencer Bryon Campbell VanEepoel Hopkins Jones Johnson Embry, E. McMillan Russell Withers Owen Stringfellow Cooper Jaughin Phillips Phipps Crowder Foster Bishop Ricketts Noble beginning good luck in intramuralsg the annual Christmas Party for the freshmen which was a howling success and enjoyed by allg the loss of several members at the end of the semesterg the beginning of a new semester with a much smaller chapterg the unexpected calling of the Air Corps Reserveg e noisy Military Ball with open-house and buffet suppersg the annual KA-ATO picnic and beer party which broke all recordsg the calling of the Enlisted Reserve Corpsg and the final ending of school with only fifteen or twenty boys left. ...Q r r

I9 members returned and 43 men were pledged during the year though a great number of them were called into the service .... Socially we managed to hold our own in spite of war . . . breakfast dances on Homecoming, Military Ball, and Fall Frolics-a dance in honor of LSS and our annual party and diamond ball game with SPE ,... Knowles gets rich and adopts a great dane that eats us out of house .... Mahoney makes Blue Key and Richards a big fuss as drum major ,... Read, Popham and Griffen take the fatal step, the latter making a good prexy in spite of his trips to Jacksonville every week- end .... Grades Potter becomes a glamour boy to the admiration of the Jackson- ville Freshmen .... Weaver trades gavel for gun, leaving big space to fill .... Wood Imgrl, Sutherland, and Miller finally get football F's and wear sweaters all summer .,,, Farrington, Barnes, and Maurer become legal eagles in the suitcase college and compete with Patterson to be the most dignified man in the chapter. And so on runs the spirit of Kappa Sigma, bucking the war and going strong to the last, This was a year filled all the way through with trials, tribulations, hopes, successes and failuresfa year which as fraternity brothers in Kappa Sigma we will never forget.
