SEMINOLE 1927 ADMINISTRATION 'MO MG the pine,- of a l»euutiful fore !. I In I niver ity «»f Florida had ii first humble beginnings near the drows little village ol Gainesville. The small hand of pioneer educator. who under look the task of establishing a state university were larking in material resources bul abumlantly supplied with hopes, enthusiasm and an unconquerable spirit. Twelve scholarly gentlemen formed this first faculty, faced b s ein-iugly insurmountable obstacles. Since that time the faculty has grown to several times the size of the combined faculty and student hod of that first year and the student enrollment now approaches the two thousand mark. Handsome new buildings are under course of construction on tin campus to meet new needs, an imposing fraternity row has ap| eared and Gainesville has developed from a drowsy little village to a hustling young city. Careful plans were made for this future development before laying the cornerstone of a single building and a- a result the building present a harmonious style of Gothic architecture. The University of Florida has proudly taken her place among the leading institutions of higher learning in the South.
