CLASS OF 1939 JAMES FERGUSON President RICHARD WEED Vice-President JANICE WARNER Secretary JOHN OLSSEN Treasurer MARCIA APPELBAUM Historian Coming to Connecticut State College in September, 1935, the Class of 1939 enjoyed a peaceful and happy Freshman week. The peacefulness of that week proved to be deceptive, however, for, with the return of the Sophomores the following week, the hardships of college life became all too evident to the innocent and heretofore disillusioned Frosh. The Fresh- men soon came to love their frequent splashes in Swan Lake. The splashes were overshadowed by the Wholesale ducking of the Class of 1939 when they received an ignominious defeat by the Sophomores in the Rope Pull. The Freshmen came back with a bang in winning a deci- sive victory in the Pig Roast, one of the fiercest and most memorable of those annual contests. 32 NUTMEG
