DR. LESTER, Dean of the Graduate School for many years, has been one of the most widely recognized educators who have been connected with the University. Dean Lester is a most human individual — liked by students, faculty, and the people of the state. He is a man of simple tastes, genial personality, and broad interests which are as keen today as they ever were. He has been a great lover of the out-of-doors, spend- ing much time in mountain-climbing, fishing, playing golf, and in cultivating his rose garden. Dr. Lester received his A.B. from Central College in Missouri in 1897, and his M.A. from the same school in 1898. In 1902 he received another M.A. from Yale and his Ph.D. from there in 1904. He came to the University of Colorado in 1907 as Head of the Physics Department, having served as an instructor and a professor of Physics at Yale. In 1919, Dr. Lester became Dean of the Graduate School, and in 1931 he was appointed Vice-President of the University. In both 1932 and 1933 he was acting President during the absence of President Norlin. Thus at all times he has given generously of his time and has furthered the interests of the University in every way he possibly could. 5 •

PROFESSOR FOLSOM, better known as P. I., is one of the most dearly beloved faculty members to retire from the University of Colorado in many years. Best known for his unerring honesty and truth, his sense of humor, and his ability to make students love and respect him, he will not only be remembered for his capacity as an excellent teacher of law but also as one of the finest football coaches the University has ever had. He received his A.B. from Dartmouth in 1895. attended the University of Michigan Law School from 1896 to 1897, and he received his LL.B. in 1897 from the University of Colorado. He then practiced law both in Boulder and in Denver and returned as instructor in law in 1906. Since 1907 he has been judge of the Moot Court, and from 1 898 to 1915 he coached intermittently, turning out a winner almost every season. In 1927 he became a professor of law, and from that time has not only given his students much worth- while knowledge in class but has also devoted much of his time to extra-curricular activities. • 4

ETWEEN the covers of this Coloradan we have tried to enclose the essence of the spirit that is Colorado University. Any year- book represents in picture and in writing a portrayal of life during a certain stipulated period. Our year commences in the Fall of 1941 and ends with the Spring of 1942. During this period, we have sought to bring to C. U. ' s students, alumni, and friends of the past, present, and future, a complete and comprehensive view of activity on our campus. We have sincerely tried and hope we have succeeded in recording the things closest to everyone as a whole and not just to particular groups. We will be justly re- warded if you, the possessor of this book, consider it as a part of your memories of Colorado University. • 6
